Mantra meditation |
Meditation of Mantra, in Sanskrit it called “NADA” the hole idea Mantra is to release our self from the obsessive thinking that caught us like prisnor
It is not only help to focus on what we are doing or experiencing in that moment
It is not hard as it’s sound like, it is the sound of our inner self or universe
Chanting is about as opposite from that as you can get, the hole perpose of chanting is to let go all our thoughts ,
And bring your attention to the Mantra or sound, through this we train our self to let go all over the things that had caught us
The first step of “NADA” yoga
As you finish the reading this, sit quietly for a moment and listen to your inner self
This is the first step of “NADA” yoga, to listen your self first
Now you have finished your first step of NADA yoga
What is NADA yoga
Suppose you get lost, when you are going to your home
You are walking down a country road, after some time it started to become foggy , it started to become dark
Now you find yourself walking across open country unable to see more than a few feet in front of you
How will you find the right direction to home as the night become more darker
You get worried about this and the fear begin to well up inside of you, I’m lost and Never get home!
Then you remember your home and family who loves you, who waiting there for you
You feel the love in your heart and you find you are no longer fearful
You hear a sound in some distance, it is not recognisable, but it is familiar
Now you start moving in the direction of sound, and the sound get muted after some while
It is difficult to recognise that where the sound is coming from but you continuosly moving toward it
It begins to glow more brightly , it becomes a fixed point of radiant light
As you get closer you recognize sound as the voice of someone who loves you and care about you
They are calling your name , as you move towards them, you realise you can see through the window of your living room,
You have find your way of home to the love of your family
Every day we try to find our way through the fog of distraction in the world around us, and we search for any sound that can help us to recognise our destination
Any light that indicates what direction we should take
In NADA yoga the calling voice is our inner voice, the warm bright fire or light is the internal divine
NADA yoga is the yoga of listening, it is a way to turn in word or a journey that may eventually lead you to enlightenment
Yoga
In the West , when we think about yoga, usually think about “Hatha yoga” the practice of a series of physical posture
There are other form of yoga , that are not physical practice just like
- Karma yoga- the yoga of action
- Bhakti yoga– the yoga of devotion
- Jnana yoga– the yoga of knowledge
- Raja yoga– the yoga of meditation
The meaning of yoga is “to yoke” ‘join” a hach” harness’ are the transition of Sanskrit word yoga
With the practice of NADA yoga, we take away the illusion that we are all separate, by following the radiance of divine light, and the vibration of the sacred sound
The four levels of sound
The four levels of sound is comes from philosophers and linguist’s of the Vedic period of ancient India
It is taken from the Vedas or the kundalini Upanishad
When a person is about to speak , they start with “para“(beyond) sound ,it is the pure intention without the word or any form
This leads to the next level ” pashyanti“( visual) sound, in this level person is forming an intention or any idea
Now it’s come to “madhyama“( between sound and thoughts)
And the final level “vaikhari“( utterance) in this level the person speak to the external world or thoughts
This process takes place from outer world to the inner world of the NADA
When we reach the higher level , we can connect with outer world or thoughts
Vaikhari
This is the first level of sound in the external world, we can hear that through ears
This includes thousand of sound’s that we hear every day in life , regardless of focusing them or filter them
Madhyama
This is the 2nd level of sound, in the mind , this is the sound d which can imagine or recall into mind
Our brain had stored many of sound like this example- songs , emotions
Pashyanti
This is the 3rd level of sound, it is the visual level of sound
Where the visual worlds or auditory world intersect , overlap or eventually merge
Example- when reading a novel word can point a picture in our mind
Or while leasing radio we can easily visualises that
Going further we can construct and visual picture of any sound like instrumental music
Para
This is the 4th level of sound, para can be understood In the number of ways like – beyond words , beyond sound , beyond our sense organ, beyond what we had reached, beyond our imagination
Para is our inner perception of our connection to something greater then ourselves
